China's role in nurturing the terrorist state of Pakistan

9 May 2025

Good time to remind ourselves of some history:

1. China's alignment with Pakistan started with the 1962 india/china war.

2. A strong Pakistan is seen by China as a check on India's influence in the region.

3. In 1963, Pakistan gave away the Shaksgam Valley to China to win chinese favour. India still claims this valley and considers it as illegally ceded.

4. China is the largest supplier of Pakistan's military hardware - fighter jets submarines, tanks, drones, etc.

5. They often conduct joint military exercises. Most recently in Dec 2024.

6. China is a UN security council permanent member. And frequently vetoes in ways supportive of Pakistani interests. For e.g., China blocked UN from labelling the Jaish-e-Mohammed founder Masood Azhar as a global terrorist.

7. China frequently provides loans & financial bailouts to Pakistan to help stabilize its economy. Total loans given stand at >29bn usd. Had it not been for chinese loans and aids, the terrorist state of Pakistan may have possibly failed much sooner and may have had a chance  to start over with a fresh government.

8. Chinas been working with Pakistan to develop a 3000km "china pakistan economic corridor". the corridor is meant to give China easy access to european energy in case of a war. It also gives them easy access to the Arabian sea. Significant investments in roads, railways and ports were made by China
